Diamond Deshields of Norcross is one of six girls’ basketball players in the nation to be selected to ESPN’s Preseason Player of the Year list.
Deshields is averaging 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals and five assists this season. She averaged 22 points last seasons. Deshields has been a team captain for two seasons and helped the Blue Devils win back-to-back Class AAAAA state championships.
She was named Miss Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and by the Georgia Sportswriters Association for 2011-12, and was named the Georgia Player of the Year for 2011-12 by Gatorade.
